World Meet our Firecracker

May 17, 2011

Peter and I had our 21 week check up today and you know what that means… ultrasound time!

We went into our appointment this morning with hopes that Baby Polito 2.0 would be healthy and safe in his/her current living situation. We knew that we were going to find out the gender of this child as we could not wait with Rocco (like we said we were), because quite frankly, we both wanted to open our gift beforehand…

Our appointment was at 8:30 am Central and of course I was there at 7:50 am and Peter came after dropping off Rocco at Day Care. Dr. Love was ready for us and in we went. It always takes me awhile to adjust to looking at ultrasound pictures, but soon enough the images started to become clear. A foot here, an arm there… a very healthy heart beating. Peter commented on how awesome it is to watch our child’s heartbeat, and I think it is even more cool that I got see this heart beating at 5 weeks—so amazing!!

Dr. Love asked us if we wanted to know the baby’s sex and we said, “oh yes, please.” He informed us that he was looking around and he couldn’t see any extra appendage where one would be… He told us, “it looks like you two are having a girl!!!”

A girl, we are having a girl! This is amazing! Now of course we would be equally as happy if we were having another boy, but I can see it in Peter’s eyes.. he is going to have a daughter and he is so incredibly thrilled!!

Our little girl decided that for the rest of the exam she would put on a show for us. She started by flexing her arm muscle to show us that she is going to be a handful! Then she showed us her softer side by sucking her thumb. She even tried putting both hands in her mouth, but decided it was best to stick with one hand.

Peter made the comment, “man, she is already a little firecracker, isn’t she?”

There you have it. Our little Firecracker will be the nickname of our daughter until we can decide on her name. Please enjoy the following ultrasound pictures. You will see her flexing arm muscle and her thumb sucking skills!

Peter informing of Rocco of his baby sister!

When we all got home this evening, Peter told Rocco the news. In order to do this, he took him out front, sat him down and had a father, son talk. Peter needed to inform our son what it was going to be like to have a little sister around. I caught a picture of them in mid discussion and then one after, where both Peter and Rocco looked pretty pleased. I guess the talk went well!

Rocco and Peter are both excited about the new girl in our lives!

We are so blessed to be having another child and we thank God that she is healthy. We wanted to thank you all for your love, support and prayers for our growing family, and we humbly ask for your continued prayers!
